There are two types of teachers when it comes to professional development. There is the excited and ready to learn teacher who signs up for as many things as they can, and the teacher who wants to enjoy their entire summer and signs up for exactly the amount they are required to. There is nothing wrong with being either type of person because I think they both bring unique traits to the school. That being said, here is a list of a few amazing places to look for some summer PD that I typically use.
Education Service Centers Every region in Texas has an Education Service Center that offers training throughout the year to teachers, and now is a great time to see what they have to offer. If you live outside of Texas, I'm hoping there is some sort of resource similar for you to take advantage of.
Technology in Action I am a technology teacher, so this conference is a yearly must for me. Every year I walk away with so many resources and ideas to implement the next year and am so excited to go back the following year. This conference happens every July so check it out!
Other Resources There are a ton of other resources for you to find training from. ISTE is another great place to find technology training and resources. You can also knock out some of your summer PD online.
No matter your subject area, there are places to go to get new and fresh ideas over the summer. Have a great resource you want to share? Put it in the comments section!
